Vacation Update #2

We just got back from a weekend of camping! It was a tonne of fun! We went to Texada Island and camped at Shelter Point with about 30 of Ryan's family members. We went kayaking, walked through some trails, watched the sun set, ate great food and visited a lot! It was good to see everyone together. We had a surprise when Ryan's cousin Becky showed up for one night. I think the only person missing was Ryan's sister Vicky.
The dogs were really well behaved. There are so many deer on the island and I thought Steve would bark all night hearing them in the bushes. They were so exhausted they slept nearly as long as we did.
It's been hot here. I think 32 today. Tomorrow I plan to spend the whole day at the lake swimming.
I'm off for dinner now. We should be back in FSJ Thursday night.

Vacation Update

We've been having a lot of fun here in PR. Every day has been going by so fast. Wake up, shower, eat, visit, eat, visit, eat, visit more, go to bed. I wish I could show you some photos, but I long ago lost the USB cord for the camera. So you will all have to wait till I get home.
Ryan has been diving once, and is planning on going one more time today. First he went to the Mermaid which is a statue sunken under the ocean just for divers. Its quite beautiful, but needs a good clean. She's fairly covered in algae right now. Today he plans on going to the Malahat, which is a sunken ship. It used to be an old rum-runner. Fairly interesting stuff to see. I'm going to go hang out with Jenny on shore and spot Ryan and his diving buddy. Safety first!
We've had 2 big parties so far. The first was a westerned themed backyard BBQ. I dressed up in this hideous plaid shirt with shoulder pads I bought at the hospital auxilary. I had Jenny braid my hair in pigtail braids and wore a cowboy hat. Surprisingly, I thought I looked pretty cute in that hat! haha. There were so many people there (nearly 200). We had pony rides, lots of games, and a pig roast. So many things to scrapbook! Keep your eyes out for some cool western paper girls.
Last night we had Mom and Dad's surprise anniversary party. They had absolutely no idea. The look on Mom's face was priceless when she entered that room. I wish I had a camera on her, but I wasn't quite ready for their arrival. She actually turned around and went back in the hall. I had to go out and collect her. It was a great visit, and I saw a lot of people I hadn't seen in a very long time. Mom and Dad were really appreciative, and enjoyed themselves quite a bit. That is the goal of course! Mom was mad at me because I put a photo of her in a bathing suit in the guest book. She looked pretty darn good in that photo though!
Tonight we are having a family BBQ at mom and dads. I'm off to go get dressed and prepare for the day. I may attempt to make a broccoli salad. Mmmm yum!

Poker Face

Wow. I hate this song with my whole life. I can't believe I'm saying I actually like this version of it. Chris Daughtry is great- and very Vin Diesel-esque in this video.

Canada Eh?

Thanks Crystal for creating this great layout! I was able to complete my Canada layout already as Crystal had designed this for a class. She made my Canada Day layout last year, and this year I did hers. I love the grid design and the 4x4 photos. Crystal is always so great at including extra's like the "Canada Eh?" button.

Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day everyone! I know it was yesterday, but I was too tired to post when I came home. I spent the day with Crystal's family. When you don't have any of your own here you need to find another to latch on to. I love her family.
We first went to the parade. Crystal and I agree that it was kind of a downer. It started late and it was raining. The floats were boring - what happened to all the music?? and it was mostly made up of tractors once again. The kids had fun though and that's all that matters.
Afterwards we headed to Egans and had lunch. Two police officers sat at the table next to ours in full uniform. (I guess they are in uniform every day, but the fancy Mountie one I mean). We were trying to get Hailey to get her picture taken with them so bad, but she wouldn't go for it. Later she told me she regretted it. How cute!
Hailey came with me after lunch and we decorated these cupcakes! She sat on my kitchen table the whole time because she was scared the dogs would get her. Mack probably would have kissed her to death if given the chance.
The potluck was a lot of fun. Lots of tasty food and great friends. We finished up with a few fireworks and I headed home to bed. Exhausting day of celebration!
