2 years old

This photo is from the summer of '08 - scrapbook translation: 5 albums ago. I'm basically caught up right now, so I've been going through my pile of stuff that just didn't inspire me, or that I was sick of doing so much of, etc. I've got many pages done, but this is my favorite this far. The layout is made from one sheet of K&Co paper, scraps, a journal spot, mist, thickers, and a puffy sticker. Not too bad really. Was fairly quick to come together, and the best part is - there are no longer any gaps in that album!

Best CHA release

Have you seen this line? It's AMAZING! Sassafras has come out with a new line called Mix and Mend - a beautiful combination of blues, golds, and tans. I can't wait to see this stuff in person because it looks so layered and gorgeous. I can't wait until this is released!

Lots of old, a little new

I took this photo before Christmas one night when I was bored. I hadn't scrapbooked it yet, because I was sick of doing Christmas pages. This is the last of them.

This page is made up of many lines, most of it old. The blue snowflake and stripe are Basic Grey Figgy Pudding - that's FOUR years ago! There's some 3 year old MME, and last years Basic Grey Wassail. It's so nice to use up that old stuff.

The inspiration for this layout came from 2 peas. You can find it here. Ryan doesn't like the tilted letters in the title; looking at it again, neither do I. Seemed like a good idea at the time. I think maybe the problem is that the S is too high. Oh well.

EDIT: I fixed the crooked letters, I couldn't stand it. They are all straight now.

Space filler

The trouble with one pagers is that sometimes, you have random gaps in your albums. I didn't really get scrapbook-worthy photos from the Peace Canyon Dam (it wasn't the interesting of a place), but there was a hole in the album after that layout of Ryan, so I had to put something there. And this is what I came up with:

I tore the first page of the info book I took while we were there and added two pictures. The page was basically full, but not done up enough for me, so I had to add a few embellishments. The border just cause I could, and the colour matched. The "discover" is part of a Mr. Campy journal spot cut up. The lightbulb and "the details" is actually a MME journal spot. I chopped it up too to make it fit. What better embellishment for a hydro electric dam than a lightbulb. Really, what else do you put? Not the greatest, but a moment remembered nonetheless.

My CHA Picks

Once again, CHA is coming blessing me with new scrapbook supplies! Here is my wishlist this time around:
From American Crafts: Dear Lizzie Enchanted

How great are these thickers!! I love love LOVE the font!

From Cosmo Cricket: Togetherness

This is one of the first times that I have only liked one of their lines. I usually love them all. Not sure what it is this time around, but this one I must have for sure.

They also have new tiny type letters - some are clear! After thickers, you can never have too many tiny letters!

From Crate Paper: Snow Day

This is a MUST have! I want this, like, now.

From Crate Paper: School Spirit

Crate is really stepping up their lines lately. They may be becoming a favourite for me!

From Sassafras: Indie Girl

Is this a CHA release? It's been shown for a while. Either way, I want it.

From We R: Merry January

So pretty!

No one more perfect

It's been a while since I've completed a one-pager. I like them so much because they are easy - especially when you use such a large photo! This was supposed to be a photo of Ryan and I (taken by me), but I have this tendency to forget the zoom is on when I take self portraits. As a result I got this photo of just Ryan. I really like it (as does he, which is unusual for him - he always says he looks dorky in pictures).

I started out with a Studio Calico kit I had partially used. I added some making memories scrap from another kit, some star ribbon from Crystal, and letters. It came together very quick and easy.

3 layouts

I printed some photos yesterday, so I was able to finally finish this first layout! I can't even remember when I started it..... 3 months? 4 months ago? It was missing the photo of the Christmas tree, I needed it in 5x7. It is now complete and safely in the album! Always a great accomplishment.

I had to go back 3 albums to find the place for this page - and it's only from last summer! Perhaps I scrap too much. Maybe my mom is right. Haha, not likely. I left these photos for a really long time because I was set on having a Jolees lawnmower or some sort of lawnmower embellishment. I finally gave up that dream, and created a lawnmower mask.... it's not as great as I'd like, but best I could do. Crystal donated the few stickers from a father's sticker sheet by Bella Blvd. It's a fairly flat layout, but that's okay once in a while.

Canada Day! I struggled a lot with this one during our Friday night scrap session. Crystal had to hold my hand and guide me through it. Adding the arrows (which are very old, and exciting to use up) helped to remove some of the Minnie Mouse feel and make it more Canadian. Ryan, who on Canada Day refused to wear a red shirt, said that we ruined the layout by not wearing red. Oh, well look who is right! Me again!

Doghouse days 3 and 4

We've been working away on the house with lots of progress. Here are some more photos!

Ryan putting the first wall up - Mack is supervising.

For some reason Steve jumps up on it every time we ask him to go through the doors. He does it, but I think would much rather go over the top. Silly dog.

Mack posing beside the house.

Steve actually using the door.

The ENTIRE house is primed white. The outside will be charcoal grey (the colour our house trim will be hopefully next year) with white trim (opposite of the house). Inside will be the colour of the basement bathroom (cause we had it kicking around) and I think I will attempt to paint "tile" on the floor. We shall see.

Doghouse day 2

We made a lot of progress today! I measured a bunch of pieces when Ryan was at work. When he came home he cut them, we finished the roof, and built all 4 walls!

That's one big freakin' dog house.

We made them test it out. I don't think they know exactly what it's all about, but they fit well through the doors.

Doghouse build - day one

We are building the dogs a dog house. This way I won't feel so bad leaving them outside in the winter when it is -30. They will have somewhere warm and cuddly to snuggle up in. It will have 2 doors. There is a wall down the middle, but it has an opening so they can share if they want.

The wood. I feel like we should have got more for $300, like some pretty paper or ribbon and glue. :)

Ryan making the first cut.

Haha. I am a nerd.

The bottom..... we insulated it and then put plywood on the other side. It weighs like 15 lbs.

Canada Day

We had a lot of fun this Canada Day! It was really windy (I mean REALLY!), so that made it slightly cold, but we dealt with it. Better than the rain we had last year!

This is my best parade shot - the first one! haha. The floats up here are pretty sucky and most weren't worth capturing. Crystal, I found a photo of you on the Devon float on energetic city's flickr page! It's a good one too - so I took it!

My Canada Day cake! I had hopes of making a maple leaf out of strawberries, but when I tried to put that plan into action it was just too tricky!

Inside of the cake. Red and white! yum yum!

I realized that I didn't get any photos of Ryan and I on Canada Day. Luckily, the fireworks were delayed until Saturday because of the wind. I took this photo of us up on the garage roof watching the fireworks. The quality is really bad, I don't know why.

My best fireworks shot - it's from right at the end (or what we thought was the end when we climbed off the roof - they just kept coming!). It looks better when it's edited, but I don't know how to save that version from the scrapbook store photo ordering site.

2 Water Dogs

This layout is a total mishmash of stuff. I pulled papers for this page based on colour. I was just looking for colours that went well with the photos. The sassafrass embellishments came last, because I was looking for some border strips. I think you can't use sass embellishments and papers all at once, it's just too much.

These are photos of the dogs swimming at Moberly Lake on May long. Steve LOVES to swim. He is really funny too, and makes this odd snorty, wheezing sound. He keeps the whole front end of his body out of the water, Adam calls him a motor boat.

I've never used a banner on my page before. It's a pretty big trend lately, and I had to try it out. I think I like it :)
