Rotary Lake

It took me forever to upload this picture - I think Blogger was having some issues. I finished this layout this morning. These photos are from last summer. Although it appears I have only scrapbooked Crystal's family I can assure you I was also there - I just didn't make the photo cut apparently. That extra Subway sandwich and Frutopia on the blanket are mine - haha.
I tested out my new Tim Holtz edge distresser for this page. Much safer than a bread knife! I found you kind of have to move it back and forth to get a really distressed look, but I like that you can go simple if you choose. This layout is mostly American Crafts with some Sassfrass (felties), Ki (blue paper) and Creative Imaginations (green paper) thrown in. I guess we need to count the Bazzill too!

New Layout

I decided it was time for a change.... Do you like the new look? I'm undecided on the brown background.... should I go for white? Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Stinky Cookies

I finally finished this layout! When did I start it? January? Now that school, and my portfolio, are complete I have all this free time. I start work on Tuesday, but even then, it's amazing that I won't have anything to do in the evenings. How great! So, like I said - this page is finally finished. I didn't have much to do; I just added on the journaling and hearts.
This page is mostly Basic Grey Nook and Pantry. The orange puppy paper is from Adornit, and there are a few LYB dog stickers on there as well. Fairly simple page - just lots of paper layering. It's my typical 3 vertical 4x6 pictures layout. haha.

I also wanted to share this picture I took of Mack. He looks so grown up! My baby isn't a baby anymore... sniff! I was shocked he sat in one place long enough for me to get a photo I liked.

Valentine's Cards

I really wanted to save my Valentine's cards from the students. I had no idea how to showcase them on a page.... after browsing 2 Peas I came up with this idea. It ended up being really fast!
I selected 3 cards to showcase and used removable adhesive on them so I can still pull them off and see who they are from if I choose. The rest are tucked in an envelope. I received an assortment of random kraft envelopes in a Studio Calico kit and this is the first one being put to use. The two strips of black border are also Studio Calico - these are their fabric rip strips. The letters and journal spot are SEI, from a kit Crystal gave me for Christmas a few years ago. The paper is Cosmo Cricket - Hey Sugar!

Another portfolio page

The first page of this serves as a title page for the section of pages. The second page is my final reflection which is part of the portfolio assignment. I wasn't really sure what she was asking for, so I hope I reflected up to standard. haha. I decided to make them out of the same paper for looks.
I did use a Maya Road acrylic butterfly on the first page. It is inked with yellow staz-on. There is a second one... but I do not know where. At some point in the ink drying time it went missing. I realize someone may have ate it, but I don't want to think about that. If I find it, it will get attached to the page also.

True Friend Card

I have a sleepover buddy tonight! We made cards. This is my sweet work. I coloured the girl with Copics. I also stamped a second present, cut it out and popped it up. I haven't made a card in quite some time and really enjoyed it!

Room 5

Oh how I wish I had my own 12x12 scanner. This is one of my best layouts completed for my portfolio so far. These are 3 shots of the classroom I was in for my practicum. I journaled some good ideas I would like to remember from the layout/organization of the classroom.
The paper is all from October Afternoon's Report Card line. The little yellow dots are Thickers from a few years back. They came in a Studio Calico kit. I remember thinking "good god these are bright, I will never use them", but they are nearly all gone.

You're the Bee's Knees

These are the cards I made for my students on my last day of my practicum. They loved them. Most didn't get the whole "Bee's Knees" thing, but they were fun nonetheless. I think they really appreciated the fact that I made them something. Really simple cards. I wish I took a picture of the inside. It just has "Thank you" stamped in the lower right corner and then I wrote each student a note.

Hiatus over.

The blog hiatus is over. I'm back. School life is slowing down and hopefully I will have a bit of free time. I'm posting pictures (LOTS!) of a book I made for a lovely little lady. Adalyn's 2nd birthday party was today. It was a lot of fun! I made her this counting book as a gift.

The front. There is a little "I" dangling - the book is called "I see" but I couldn't get it in the picture. I apologize, I had to use flash, the lighting wasn't great when I took these.
The book only goes to 5. I figured that was a good start for a 2 year old.
I love this tree! I used embossing powder mixed in the paint to give the tree trunk some roughness. I flocked the leaves part.
These kids are from Basic Grey's line Mellow. They go perfectly with the paper!
I see 3 flowers to pick. These actually come off the page - they are attached with velcro.
The four apples come off the one side of the page and attach to the velcro on the other so Adalyn can put them in the baskets.
On this page the birds can be moved into their nest.
This last page has 5 buttons dangling on a string. She can push them up and down. It is also good for practicing colours too!
