Great idea!

I've been slacking off on the blog postings lately. Now that I know how great layouts look scanned, I'm hesitant to post them until I have enough to scan a CD of 20 photos (or 10 double layouts). I'm nearly there, and hope to go scan a bunch again on Thursday. Then I will spread out the postings and hopefully, by the time they are all up, I'll have a new batch scanned.
I just read this post over at Studio Calico's blog. What a great idea for using up rubons! I knew that the adhesive eraser would remove rubons, but I never thought to use them as a mask. I recommend you go to their blog now.

New Scrapbooks Etc!

Scrapbooks Etc has announced that they are redoing the look of their magazine. They are also going to 6 issues a year, one every 2 months. Although I am sad about the reduction in issues the re-do looks pretty cool. I'm excited for the larger photos of the layouts!
To read all about it check our Michelle's blog post here.

In Good Company

I picked up this Bo Bunny paper line when we were traveling through Langley. I knew that I liked it but wasn't sure when I'd use it. There were a lot of themed elements with this. When we were home, we ended up having a bbq, however, the actual photos of the bbq-ing didn't turn out that great.
I had fun using this stuff. It's pretty bright, but I toned it down with the brown cardstock. It was feeling kind of plain, but I solved that by cutting up the flourish stickers and placing them behind the flowers.
Crystal came up with the title for me. Thanks! Looking at it now, I think the "In Good" should be raised up higher or something, but oh well. A page done is a page done.

Camping!

As I create these layouts from our holiday I keep seeming to be faced with way too many photos! As a result I'm using little embellishment. I'm always trying to have my pages look different from one another so I guess that's okay once in a while. Here I used some of my last bits of Mr. Campy by Cosmo from last year. I love this paper line! No one seemed to come out with any really amazing camping lines this year (at least not that I saw). We're hoping to go camping again next week and I just don't have any more embellishment to use really. I'm going to have to be on the hunt from some different takes on camping pages.
Every year Ryan's family does a Family Camp on Texada Island. It's a lot of fun. Being that we live so far away now, it's great for us to get down there and visit everyone all in one spot. I keep saying that next time we go down we should just camp and make everyone come to us. It'd be so much more relaxing that way.

Avalon Mist

This is one of my favorite pages so far! I love how black can make bright colours pop, although I often forget that little trick. I tend to prefer browns, but black is so much more bold. This one sheet of October Afternoon cloud paper came to me in a Studio Calico kit I believe. I've been hoarding it for a few months, not willing to touch it. It works perfectly here! It's good to save things up (RIGHT Crystal?) for when they are absolutely necessary.
It was a little tricky to balance the right and left side. The first page is based on a sketch out of SBE. I had so wanted to do it and then realized afterwards that only one of my remaining photos was not a duplicate of those in the grid. Ooops. It worked out well anyway.
For "Avalon" I was able to pull out my Quickutz and use Beauty Queen one more time. Since the Cricut the QK has been ignored a little. Again, I do like having all the options so they never look stale or the same.
These photos are from a day on Dad's boat. It was so hot that day! If we were out any longer I would have burned, and I do not burn ever! The dogs were very well behaved and slept most of the time.

2 High Quality Dog Layouts

I haven't posted in a while because I knew I'd be scanning my layouts and I much prefer posting them scanned. The quality is so much better and you can see all the edges. Sometimes in photos I cut stuff out by accident. I'm planning on posting a few a day so stretch it out because I'm sure it won't be long until I have another CD of scanned layouts. I've also gone back and updated some trip layouts to scanned versions as well. Here's two layouts of curious dogs for today:
Steve had never seen crabs before. He was all about them. This is really old (and by that I mean, last year) Cosmo paper. I wanted this robot paper so badly but had no use for it. Glad its used up. I cut the title and the crabs with the Cricut. I traced another journaling spot to make this one. I also did a ring of Stickles around the crab in the large photo to highlight it. Those little crabs really do a good job of blending into the rocks.

Mack is so silly! Here he is peeking into Craig's tent. What a nosy little dog. The "Fragile" paper is Making Memories from last year. The red stuff that kinda looks like tents is exclusive Studio Calico from a couple of kits back. I added a couple of MME green rubons to the title strip for a bit of extra detail.

More trip layouts to come soon. Dont' forget you can click on them to look at a larger photo and read the journaling!

4 more...

I created the road sign background for my title using the Cricut and SCAL! The letter stickers are really old Chatterbox. All papers are October Afternoon.
My cousin's children! This uses Basic Grey's Lemonade line. Love the colours in this.

These photos are from the cabin. We always have so much fun up there. This is a mix of October Afternoon lines.
This layout is created mainly from the latest Studio Calico kit. Like my photo orientation on this one. It's a little different for me.

Vacation Layouts

I completed several layouts today at June's place. It was rainy and the perfect day for scrapbooking!Mom and I got our toes done at Bliss. June came up with the great idea of journaling on a flip flop. Thanks June!

I love the colours in this one. June and I played around with the Cricut markers. They are pretty cool. I was surprised by how fine a print you got from such a thick marker.

Banana boats! Yum!

It took me forever to decide on this one. I kept switching the pages around.

Vacation Photos

Here are some of my favorite photos from the trip. They are from newest to oldest.

My cousin Marsha (in 108 Mile) has a horse pasture right beside her home. Mack was so interested!

My cousins daughter making faces at me through glass.

Sunset over on Texada Island.

Ryan jumping into the water at the cabin.

Ryan, Mom, Dad and I at Mom and Dad's surprise anniversary party.

These boats are called "The Hulks". There are several war ships linked together as a breakwater for the mill in Powell River.

I love this photo. The third dog is Ryan's parents dog Rusty. He's 14.

Mack and an ice cream cone. He shared with Steve.

At the Western Party the rented a pony to give rides to the kids. So cute!
